The Gamer I am Now
PC Gaming
I've play a lot of my games on the PC right now. My computer is almost always on which makes it easy to just jump into a game without much effort. Plus, I can play my games without interrupting the TV. While I play the occasional casual games, I have a number of games that I play regularly.
The first is World of Warcraft. This is my main game. Although there have been times when I haven't played for several days, I always come back. I have friends on WoW, not to mention that my Wife plays, so it's fun. I'm not a power gamer though. I haven't even once hit the level cap. Fun in a game for me has always been better than winning.
I've played other MMORPGs. My favorite by far was City of Heroes. The problem I always ran into with this was that I had no friends who played. So, until I can convince my friends to play another game, World of Warcraft is my game.
Of course, I play more than just MMOs. I have a large collection of games like The Sims 2, and Civilization IV, along with a number of older games that I may pick up off my shelf and start playing. Very soon though, I'll be getting a new computer. Then I'll be able to get a lot of the newer games that have come out recently.
Console Gaming
As you might have read in my previous page, I'm a huge Nintendo fan. That's why it may come as no surprise that I have a Nintendo Wii. The great thing about my Wii however, is that I actually got it within a year of it first coming out. That's actually a record for me.
I knew I wanted a Wii when it was announced, but it wasn't until I actually tried it out for myself that I was convinced I had to get it. In fact, it was one game in particular that did if for me: Super Mario Galaxy. I tried this out in a demo, and I knew that I'd love this console. And I do, to a point.
The problem with the Wii is that it's taken a while for game makers to figure out how to use it. Thankfully games are getting better for them. I soon plan to purchase Guitar Hero: World Tour for the Wii.
The Wii is a fun system for playing with friends, but it's not the best for single-player gaming (with a few exceptions). That's why I plan to purchase an Xbox 360 very soon.
Handheld Gaming
While I may have complaints with the Wii, there's one thing Nintendo makes that I can't complain about. The Nintendo DS. I purchased a DS for myself, and later one for my Wife. While she may not play hers as much as she used to, I love the thing. It's especially fun for Adventure Games and RPGs, and the best thing is that I can "pause" the game at any time I like by simply closing it. The touch screen is fantastic, at least when games don't tack it on as something cheap.
Of course, for the DS, there aren't a lot of games that I want to play over and over. That's why I'm happy to have GameFly. GameFly is like Netflix for video games, and unlike regular rental stores, they actually let you rent portable games.
