The CONNECT Program is designed for high school graduates
who have applied for admission to BSU but have been advised by the admissions
office to first attend their local Ivy Tech State College for better academic
preparation to ensure success at Ball State.
The CONNECT Program
between Ivy Tech
State College and Ball
State University
The CONNECT Program is a
special program that allows a student who wishes to attend Ball State
University but has not had the appropriate academic preparation to take their
first-year courses at Ivy Tech and, in most cases, the student is guaranteed
admission to Ball State as a sophomore.
To sign up for the program, the student must contact a CONNECT Program
counselor (the student can get the contact information at
http://www.bsu.edu). Once in the program, the student will be required to
earn a minimum of 24 transferable college-level credits at Ivy Tech State
College. Only specific courses (listed below) in which the student earns a grade
of “C” or better will count towards the 24 hours of credit required for
admission to Ball State.
Once these courses are successfully completed, the student is guaranteed
admission to Ball State
University (although no guarantee
is made that the student will be admitted to restricted majors).
Once the student is signed up, the CONNECT Program counselor will help the
student plan their schedule of classes and help the student set up attendance
at the required special orientation program at Ball State in late summer
before the student begins the CONNECT Program courses.

CONNECT students are required to complete all skill building and/or
prerequisite courses as deemed necessary by Ivy Tech State College.
ENG 111, ENG 112, and COM 101 must be completed with grades of “C” or better
in each. These nine credits are required of all CONNECT students. The last
fifteen credits can be taken from any of the above courses. Any deviation
from the above listed courses must have approval of the CONNECT Counselor.
